On July 17, the provisions of the law «On Media» entered into force, increasing the use of the Ukrainian language on television. From now on, the share of non-state language in live broadcasts should not exceed 10%.

This was reported by the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, Taras Kremin.

«The use of non-state language on the air will be allowed only in fixed expressions, short phrases or individual words used by the participants of the program broadcast live, except for the presenters (announcers) of the program, if the total duration of such remarks does not exceed 10% of the duration of the program,» said Taras Kremin.

He added that all speeches, interviews, comments, explanations, questions, individual remarks, etc. in a non-state language should be translated, dubbed or voiced in Ukrainian.

«From now on, viewers will have the opportunity to consume even more content in the Ukrainian language,» Taras Kremin emphasized.

We will remind you that in 2023, the number of publications in Ukrainian on the most popular social networks, such as Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, increased significantly.
