Taras Kremin is a Ukrainian politician who served as Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language from July 2020 to July 2025. From 2014 to 2019 he was a member of the Verkhovna Rada. In July 2025 the Cabinet of Ministers dismissed Kremin as language ombudsman because his term had expired. Before that, cultural figures and former president Viktor Yushchenko had called for his reappointment, and Kremin himself said he had been “too independent and inconvenient”. In 2026 he published a book on Shevchenko Prize winners from Mykolaiv Oblast, and Mykolaiv mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych asked for copies to be bought for every school in the city.
