Zelenskyy: The Armed Forces control 74 settlements in the Kursk region

As of the evening of Tuesday, August 13, Ukrainian forces control 74 settlements in Russia's Kursk region.

This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

He noted that the advance of the Armed Forces on the territory of the aggressor country of Russia continues. Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said that he is in constant contact with the head of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi.

The President added that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are carrying out inspections and stabilization measures for contagion in the Russian region. Ukraine is developing humanitarian solutions for these territories.

«Despite the difficult, intense battles, the advance of our forces in Kursk continues, the exchange fund for our state is replenished. 74 settlements are under the control of Ukraine,» said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The President thanked the Ukrainian defenders for their heroic service. He also noted that the next steps are being prepared.

What is happening in the Kursk region

The Russian side claims that on August 6, the Ukrainian military allegedly tried to break through the border and gain a foothold in the Sudzhansky and Korenievskyi districts of the Kursk region.

According to information from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, approximately 300 Ukrainian soldiers on 11 tanks and 20 armored vehicles allegedly attempted to break through.

According to local media reports, six Russian servicemen were captured by the Armed Forces, and the Russian Telegram channel «VChK-OGPU» claims that the Chechen special forces «Akhmat» stationed on the border have left their positions, and 15 soldiers were injured.

Russian soldiers report that Ukrainian forces have already occupied several settlements in the Kursk region, and the city of Sudzha has actually been evacuated.

At the same time, the UN Secretary General does not have any information about the events in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation: «We do not have representatives in this area.»

On Monday, August 12, Kursk Oblast Governor Oleksii Smirnov reported to Vladimir Putin that 28 settlements in the region «are under the control of the enemy».
