Sienkevych has instructed officials to look into the introduction of additional benefits for Mykolaiv’s centenarians

According to the mayor, pensioners had approached him with enquiries regarding the availability of special local benefits for elderly residents and long-term residents.
«Pensioners have approached me to ask whether there are any local benefits for elderly people who have, say, lived in the city for 70–80 years,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.
During the discussion, city officials reported that assistance is currently provided to residents who have reached the age of 100. According to them, there are 24 such people living in Mykolaiv, and the city’s oldest resident is 107 years old.
In response, the mayor instructed the relevant departments to examine the experience of other regional centres in Ukraine regarding support for centenarians and the elderly.
«I would ask you to look into this issue in other regional centres, find out what practices exist there, and we will discuss it. We will make proposals if such trends are identified,» said the mayor.
At the same time, Sienkevych noted that the city budget’s financial capacity is currently limited, but called for possible support options to be explored. He also reminded those present that free travel on public transport for pensioners is already in place in Mykolaiv. No decisions have yet been taken regarding the introduction of new benefits.
It was previously reported that pensioners in the Mykolaiv region receive an average of 6,903 hryvnias. In the Odesa region, payments amount to almost seven thousand hryvnias, and in the Kherson region — just over 6,100 hryvnias.
