The increase is considered unjustified, partly due to rising fuel prices. The Antimonopoly Committee has also raised objections.
This was discussed at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Pivdennoukrainsk City Council, according to NikVesti.
As Tetiana Tatsiienko, head of the Economic Development Department, noted, in 2024 the household waste landfill was returned to the balance sheet of the «Public Utilities Service» municipal enterprise so that the organisation could maintain it and provide services effectively. The company was permitted to use the waste disposal tariff previously set for the «Housing and Maintenance Association» municipal enterprise. However, fuel prices have risen since then. Furthermore, the Antimonopoly Committee raised concerns regarding the legality and economic justification of the tariffs for the Municipal Services Enterprise.
«The Antimonopoly Committee was initially interested in waste collection, and then began to look into waste storage, specifically why the «Public Utilities Service» municipal enterprise was providing services on the instructions of the «Housing and Maintenance Association» municipal enterprise,» explained the head of the Economic Development Department.
Therefore, a decision by the Executive Committee proposed that the tariffs be adjusted.
«The Economic Development Department verified the calculations. As a result of the review, the cost price was reduced by 402,086 hryvnias, and it was proposed to set the tariff at 51.02 hryvnias. The current tariff stands at 32.98 hryvnias. Overall, the increase per resident in the town of Pivdennokrainsk will be 1.54 hryvnias. Based on the rates, the increase per resident in the village of Kostiantynivka will be 3.54 hryvnias, in the villages of Ivanivka and Pankratove — 3.21 hryvnias, and in Buzke — 2.42 hryvnias,» reported Tetiana Tatsienko.
She also noted that 48.7 per cent of the tariff consists of wages, and 39.7 per cent of fuel and lubricants.
Members of the executive committee remarked that the decision to raise the tariff is unpopular but necessary.
«The current state and volume of waste being collected, coupled with rising energy costs, wages and taxes, necessitates an adjustment to the tariff at this time,» remarked a member of the executive committee.
Tetiana Tatsiienko noted that the municipal enterprise «Housing and Maintenance Association» had been asked to provide calculations, but the company had refused.
The explanatory note to the draft decision stated that a tariff of 51.02 hryvnias is proposed for all consumer groups. It was planned to come into force on 1 September.
The information regarding the tariff was taken into account, as decisions on the budget and tariffs will be made by Ivan Kukhta, head of the Pivdennoukrainsk City Military Administration.
As a reminder, the police in Pivdennoukrainsk have until the end of September to investigate the case of a broken CT scanner worth 19.5 million hryvnias. Law enforcement officers will decide whether to bring charges or close the case.
