There are plans to increase the cost of services provided by the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Funeral Service». If the executive committee approves this draft decision, the new rates will come into effect on 1 November.

This is stated in the draft resolution of the Mykolaiv City Council’s executive committee, according to NikVesti.

The Executive Committee approved the current tariff for funeral services a year and a half ago — on 26 March 2025. Now, at the Executive Committee meeting scheduled for 14 October, the cost of services is to be reviewed. These are divided into essential and additional services.

The rates for services on the list of essential services may be as follows:

  • The contract for the organisation and conduct of burials will increase from 57 to 78 hryvnias.
  • The fee for issuing a burial certificate will rise from 40 to 54 hryvnias.
  • The cost of digging a grave by hand depends on the soil, the size of the grave and whether the ground is frozen. Currently, the fee ranges from 355 to 6,295 hryvnias. The plan is to set the fee at between 443 and 9,942 hryvnias.
  • Mechanised grave digging, followed by finishing by hand, currently costs between 2,311 and 3,704 hryvnias. The plan is to set the rate at between 3,751 and 6,284 hryvnias.
  • The dismantling of a grave monument to make way for a reburial currently costs between 292 and 780 hryvnias, depending on its weight. The new cost will be between 412 and 1,099 hryvnias.
  • The burial or reburial of an urn containing ashes in an existing grave currently costs between 208 and 497 hryvnias, depending on the soil and the size of the grave. The proposed fee will range from 260 to 1,395 hryvnias.
  • A new service — placing an urn containing the ashes of the deceased in a columbarium niche — will cost 378 hryvnias.

The list of additional services includes monitoring compliance with sanitary standards and regulations at the cemetery, which will cost between 264 and 525 hryvnias depending on the cemetery; cleaning and tidying of graves without flower beds — 441 hryvnias; with flower beds — 663 hryvnias. Locating a grave and providing information — 405 hryvnias.

If the Executive Committee approves the new rates, they will come into effect on 1 November.

As a reminder, there are 16 cemeteries registered in Mykolaiv. The city budget has allocated 24.3 million hryvnias for their upkeep and routine repairs in 2026.

In May 2026, the first columbarium was opened in Mykolaiv. Its construction cost 2.7 million hryvnias. It was due to be completed by the end of 2024, but was delayed due to the mobilisation of workers. The deadline was subsequently postponed to mid-2025.
