«You are free, but they are not»: in Mykolaiv, a weekly action was held in support of prisoners of war

On Sunday, June 23, a weekly action in support of prisoners of war was held in the center of Mykolaiv.

About 150 people gathered for the rally, writes NikVesti.

For the third year, Kateryna has been waiting for her husband, who served in the 79th separate airborne assault brigade, to be released from captivity.

«My husband has been in captivity for the third year. We go out every week, on Sunday. These are reminder actions about captured and missing defenders, to remind and show the international community that we still have a problem,» said Kateryna.

According to her, such actions are the only opportunity for civilians to help free the Ukrainian military from Russian captivity.

«There are a lot of them, both missing and captured. Someone waits for their relatives a little more, someone a little less, and we cannot influence that, except by coming to such actions and reminding the society about them,» said the prisoner's wife.

Kateryna said that not only the families of soldiers who were captured gather at the weekly actions. They are often joined by people who are simply not indifferent.

«We gather 150 people at such actions. There are not only people here in which someone is a prisoner or has disappeared, there are even people here who simply come to support such families, just like ours. There were several times people from Kherson who survived the occupation. No matter how difficult it was for them, they came out, joined in, said words of support,» the woman said.
