There will be no new import bans in the 13th package of sanctions against Russia.
This was reported by Reuters with reference to diplomatic sources.
It said the European Commission will propose a package of sanctions that it hopes will provoke minimal debate among member states, to be quickly adopted before the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
It is also indicated that the proposal of the European Commission, which may arrive as early as this week, will also expand the list of Russian companies to which EU firms cannot sell dual-purpose goods.
Dual-use items are items that can be used in everyday life as well as on the battlefield to make weapons like drones.
«Brussels believes that there is little left on which EU countries could reach a unanimous agreement, as sanctions on Russian nuclear fuel and liquefied natural gas are currently not under consideration,» the report said.
Earlier it was reported that the European Union is going to introduce an embargo against Russian aluminum within the 13th package of sanctions.
