President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that he has stopped separatism in the country by deciding to ban direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He said this during a press conference with Moldovan President Maia Sandu, according to «Ukrinform» and «Suspilne».
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Russian president began to create a large number of different channels with separatists, together with representatives of other countries, to influence Ukraine and him personally.
«There were many negotiation processes, many shadow negotiation corridors. I stopped it quickly. I simply stopped separatism in our country. I forbade anyone, any political figures in Ukraine, to hold any negotiations with the Russian side, with Putin's supporters during the war. This was when their troops were here in the Kyiv region», the president said.
According to Zelenskyy, this decision is absolutely fair, as he is the leader of certain negotiations as president of Ukraine.
«Putin, of course, did not like this, because he had many channels. There are channels that everyone knows about, because the relevant people were arrested, and then we exchanged them for our military, and they also used other channels, even in some of our institutions, which I am not yet ready to talk about publicly», the head of state added.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump said that his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy should not have allowed a full-scale war to take place and said that he «is no angel».
