Oleksandr Bereza, head of the administration of the Central District of Mykolaiv and a member of the city council from the party «Proposal», supported the exchange of US military aid for Ukraine for the right for the US to mine rare earth metals in Ukraine.
He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
Oleksandr Bereza believes that the support of Ukraine by Western countries is of strategic importance, in particular for the security funding of Central European states. For countries such as Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, it is more profitable to have Ukraine as a neighbour, which is deterring potential Russian aggression.
The MP also commented on Donald Trump's interest in Ukrainian minerals, calling it a very positive signal for Ukraine.
«No one does anything for nothing and for free. Trump's interest in Ukrainian minerals is definitely a very positive signal. The US president is a pragmatist and seeks pragmatic agreements on the principle of «win-win», Oleksandr Bereza wrote.
According to the official, the idea of a possible «sale of» the country was spread by Russia, scaring the population that Ukraine could be sold or divided. However, it was Russia that took away Ukraine's territories.
«This is a nightmare for those who, before the land sale was launched, were worried that Ukraine would be sold off and the people of Ukraine would be left with nothing. The thesis that Ukraine would be sold off was actively promoted and fuelled by pro-Russian forces. After all, it was Russia that stole 20% of our country's territory», the official added.
As a reminder, Oleksandr Bereza supported the demolition of the Leninist Komsomol monument near «Yunist», saying that it was a defence of democratic values.
Earlier, NikVesti wrote that the administration of the Central District of Mykolaiv ordered the reconstruction of a flower bed on Soborna Street for almost 1 million hryvnias.
