French Finance Minister: European countries are ready to send troops to Ukraine

The UK, Germany and France are ready to send troops to Ukraine to guarantee a ceasefire.

This was stated by French Finance Minister Eric Lombard in an interview with Bloomberg Television in Cape Town.

He stressed that the ceasefire, in the event of an agreement between Ukraine and Russia, must be maintained with the help of the United States.

«If we want the ceasefire to be respected, we need the support of the United States. I believe that the Americans have agreed to do that», he said.

This week, Erik Lombard, together with French leader Emmanuel Macron, visited the United States and met with their counterparts, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant and U.S. President Donald Trump.

«We discussed all issues, trade, tariffs, non-tariff barriers. We agreed to continue negotiations, which is a step forward», he added.

Earlier it was reported that sending peacekeepers to Ukraine is seen as a joint NATO mission, but it is necessary to be prepared for an alternative European proposal.
