The United States is proposing a peace deal that would require both Ukraine and Russia to cede some of the territory they currently control. It also includes a freeze on the conflict along the current line of contact.

This was stated by US Vice President J.D. Vance, Bloomberg reports.

He noted that the parties are likely to make territorial exchanges. At the same time, the demarcation line will not exactly correspond to the current front, but will be close to it.

«The current lines, roughly within these limits, will eventually become the new boundaries of the conflict», said J.D. Vance.

According to him, in order to stop the bloodshed, both sides must «lay down their arms, freeze the conflict and start building a better Russia and a better Ukraine».

As a reminder, DiVance said that the Americans may refuse to mediate in the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine if they do not receive a positive response.

We would also like to remind you that the United States handed over to Ukraine a document containing the «final» peace proposal, which provides for the actual recognition of part of the occupied territories by Russia, including Crimea. The document, which was handed over to Ukrainian officials in Paris, describes the proposal as an initiative of President Donald Trump. The United States has said it will withdraw from the negotiation process if an agreement is not reached soon.
