President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump spoke on the phone about Russian air strikes, air defence capabilities and the situation at the front.

Zelenskyy reported on the content of the conversation on social media. He thanked the United States for its support and stressed the importance of achieving a just peace with the participation of the American side.

«We in Ukraine are grateful for all the support provided, which allows us to protect people's lives and our independence. We have done a lot together with America and support all efforts to stop the killing and restore a normal, sustainable, dignified peace. We need a decent deal for peace, and Ukraine supports the American proposals,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

According to the President, Trump is well aware of the situation at the frontline and threats from the air. The parties agreed to work on expanding Ukraine's air defence capabilities.

«We discussed air defence capabilities and agreed that we would work to increase the protection of the sky. We agreed to hold a meeting of our teams. We also talked in detail about the capabilities of the defence industry and the possibilities of joint production. We are ready for direct projects with the United States and believe that this is extremely important for security, especially with regard to drones and related technologies,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The leaders also discussed mutual investment, procurement and diplomatic cooperation with the United States and other allies.

Earlier it was reported that US President Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin. It lasted about an hour.
