European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, announced that the EU has started work on the opening of the Defense Innovation Office in the Ukrainian capital.

Thierry Breton said this at the EU-Ukraine Defense Industry Forum, «EP» writes.

According to the European Commissioner, the EU recently adopted a new strategy in the field of the defense industry.

«The strategy is designed not only to support European defense readiness, but also to strengthen ties between the European and Ukrainian defense industries,» said Thierry Breton.

Thierry Breton added that the new strategy sets a clear priority for the further development of cooperation.

«That's why we will open the Office of Defense Innovation in Kyiv — to create a bridge between innovative startups in the EU and Ukrainian companies and the Armed Forces, so that European startups can help Ukrainian soldiers on the battlefield. And I am glad that practical work on the implementation of this task has already begun,» added the European Commissioner.

In turn, the Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kamyshyn, added before the start of the forum that work is currently underway to shape the tasks and structure of the Office.

We will remind you that earlier Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has fulfilled all the conditions for the actual start of negotiations on joining the EU.
