Vitaly Kim and Oleksandr Sienkevych at the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine, June 11, 2024, photo NikVestiOn June 11-12, the Ukraine Recovery Conference will be held in Berlin with the participation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz.
Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych and the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, are also among the invited participants in the conference, the NikVesti correspondent reports.
It is worth noting that this is Vitalii Kim's first participation in a conference held abroad since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. In a comment to NikVesti, he shared that based on the results of his participation in the conference, he expects to attract additional funds for the restoration of Mykolaiv.
«I will speak on one of the panels specifically on the restoration of regions. Territorial communities are signing a number of agreements here, which are already at the stage of implementation. Including schools, shelters, water supply, cogeneration. This is for the city of Mykolaiv. Now we are fixing our agreements so that the work will move forward,» says Vitalii Kim.
Among the participants are also other representatives from the region: Deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv for International Cooperation Serhii Koreniev, Chairman of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction David Arakhamiia and the former head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council — currently the head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, Hanna Zamazieieva.
And among the Ukrainian representatives: Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko, Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko, Acting Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Vasyl Shkurakov, First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, Minister of Health Viktor Liashko.
In total, more than 2,000 politicians, diplomats, representatives of business, municipalities, civil society from different countries of the world take part in the two-day event. The list of issues to be discussed is extensive and covers such areas as energy, human capital, mental health, cultural heritage and others.
The conference will be held under four main panels:
- Business dimension — involvement of the private sector for reconstruction and economic growth;
- Human dimension — social recovery and human capital for the future of Ukraine;
- Local and regional dimension — restoration of communities and regions;
- EU — European integration and related reforms.
The main goal of URC 2024 is to consolidate permanent international support for the recovery, reconstruction, reform and modernization of Ukraine. It is about emergency assistance in meeting urgent needs, implementation of rapid recovery projects, creation of attractive conditions for business and private investments, active involvement of civil society in reconstruction processes.
This is already the third such conference during the full-scale Russia against Ukraine. The previous ones were held in Lugano (Switzerland) and London. URC 2025 is planned to be held in Italy.
