The first unit of the Ukrainian Legion, which is being formed in Poland, has already arrived in Ukraine.
This was reported by Ukraine's Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar, according to Radio Svoboda Europe.
According to the diplomat, the training of volunteers will continue at Ukrainian training grounds. In addition, on January 10, the next recruits will sign contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and go for training at the Polish training ground.
«This is actually a success story that some politicians or Russian propaganda try to portray as a negative fact. The process, of course, we would like it to go faster, but it is going as it is. We are working to make this information accessible in all EU countries and possibly beyond,» he noted.
The ambassador mentioned that this is a voluntary unit, so admission is exclusively on a voluntary basis. He did not disclose the number of volunteers who joined the legion.
Previously, it was reported that the first group of volunteers from the Ukrainian Legion signed contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The procedure took place at the recruiting center at the Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin.
