Time is running out: deputies of Yuzhnoukrainsk could not decide on a new name for the city again

In Yuzhnoukrainsk, they were once again unable to decide how best to rename the city.

On Wednesday, December 29, at the session of the Yuzhnoukrainsk City Council, deputies were asked to vote for the name, which was supported by the majority of respondents.

It is noted that a survey was conducted in the city in which 3,826 people took part. 56 votes were cast for Buhohard, 666 votes for Hard, and 3,050 votes for Pivdennoukrainsk, and there were also 54 spoiled forms.

Initially, it was proposed to vote for the name Yuzhnoukrainsk, but then they decided to propose two names to the Verkhovna Rada at once: Yuzhnoukrainsk and Hard. However, the decision received only 9 votes «for» out of 22 present. This issue will be considered again at the next session.

At the same time, the deputies were warned that they have until December 27 to make a decision on the new name, because then the Verkhovna Rada will make the decision for them.

We remind that on September 25, in Yuzhnoukrainsk, Mykolaiv Oblast, at a meeting of the renaming commission, a vote was held among the citizens on the new name of the city.

We also remind that the National Commission for State Language Standards, by its decision on June 22, approved the list of villages, towns and cities that should be renamed by December 27 of the current year. Yuzhnoukrainsk is among them.
