In Mykolaiv, the buses transferred from Norway have not yet entered the routes: «They have not been seen, we lack drivers»

In Mykolaiv, difficulties arose with the commissioning of new buses, which the city received as part of cooperation with Norway.

According to the mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, this situation arose due to insufficient number of drivers to ensure work on the new routes, NikVesti writes.

At the session of the Mykolaiv City Council, he noted that the lack of qualified workers in the field of transport has become a significant problem.

«We will have another problem, this is the number of workers who will be able to perform work on buses. We had big buses from Norway today, but you didn't see them because we have a problem with the drivers. People are our greatest value today, and we don't have enough of them,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.

The mayor of Mykolaiv added that for the next year, funds for compensating for preferential travel in public transport are planned to be two times less than will be used this year.

«And this is because we want to increase the number of transport and drivers,» he said.

As you know, in November 2023, Norway transferred passenger buses to Mykolaiv. Each of them can accommodate almost 100 people, and they are also adapted for the transportation of people with limited physical capabilities. It was planned that buses would run to the Korabelnyi district.

We remind that in June, Mykolaiv received a second new trolleybus as part of the resumption of cooperation with the EBRD.
