As of September 12, Mykolaivoblteploenergo installed 17 charging stations for electric vehicles in city yards. 3 more will be installed next week.
The director of the utility company, Mykola Lohvinov, informed NikVesti about this.
«17 pieces have already been installed. 3 more will be installed by the end of next week. Our goal is for the city to have an attractive appearance and to show our foreign partners that we are keeping pace with them, that is, we are developing the electric transport network and want to reduce CO2 emissions. I want the city to be beautiful and in order. Because the residents forget a little bit that they put their cars in the wrong place, they put up incomprehensible garages in the yards, it is not clear why and who allowed them to do it. That is, we want the city to be beautiful, so that people can see that the city is developing in some common trend with Europe,» said Mykola Lohvinov.
He explained that charging stations for electric cars were installed in accordance with the decision of the executive committee of the city council and with the agreement of the police.
«First, we have a decision of the executive committee regarding these parking spaces. And secondly, we have an agreed traffic scheme with the police. These areas have been painted, landscaping has been carried out, where necessary, asphalt has been laid, and markings have been made. There will still be signs installed there, according to these schemes, and that's it,» said the director of the enterprise.
The charging stations are installed at Mykolaivoblteploenergo facilities, and therefore do not require approval from local condominiums, says Mykola Lohvinov.
«What relation do local residents and condominiums have to roads? These are city roads. And the premises near which this was done are on the balance sheet of Mykolaivovlteploenergo. And for the land that is under this premises, we pay land taxes. Local residents have nothing to do with these stories. «If they think they can park where they want, that's their business,» he said.
To the question of whether fines will be imposed on residents who park their cars on the territory of installed charging stations, Mykola Lohvinov answered:
«I don't know. We do not fine. Our task is to build a network of electric charging points, make landscaping, install signs, do everything in accordance with current legislation. That is, it is not my task to fine,» said the director of Mykolaivoblteploenergo.
In total, they want to install 55 charging stations in Mykolaiv: by the end of next week, they will install 20, and then they will make a decision about the rest, explained Mykola Lohvinov.
«We have only 55 such locations selected. These are all premises or territories owned by Mykolaivoblteploenergo. We looked at places where it is more or less normal to drive up, where there are parking spaces, so that it would be more or less convenient. Plus, it became a priority to have many residents there. We have selected a total of 55 such locations. Now let's put the first 20 and look at this whole story. If a decision is made in the future, I think we will expand the network,» he said.
Charging stations in Mykolaiv
In April 2024, it became known about the plans of the Mykolaivvoblteploenergo utility company to install charging networks for electric cars in the city. Director Mykola Lohvinov explained that this will be a social project so that the company can earn money with minimal profitability.
Later, it became known that these plans are somewhat large-scale, because the city plans to implement a program for the development of electric charging infrastructure for a period of four years. But the deputies of the city council did not accept it at the session on April 25.
At the beginning of May 2024, Mykolaivoblteploenergo announced a tender for the purchase of charging stations for electric vehicles. And at the end of the month, it became known that the city council signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Mykolaiv Electric Supply Company regarding the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles.
Already in June 2024, the city council approved a four-year program for the development of electric charging infrastructure on the second attempt. However, Mykolaiv City Council deputy Olena Kiseliova said that she does not understand the need to implement this program due to the unstable situation with electricity.
