As of the end of September 2024, Russian troops destroyed or damaged 10 out of 24 institutions of vocational and technical education in the Mykolaiv region.

The Mykolaiv Vocational Industrial Lyceum, the Nadbuzke Vocational Agrarian Lyceum and the Snihurivka Vocational Lyceum, which were under occupation, were the most affected.

Liudmyla Komisarova, deputy director of the Department of Education and Science of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, told about this during a meeting of the commission of the Regional Council on Education, writes NikVesti.

The number of institutions decreased from 31 in 2019 to 24 as of today. Some institutions stopped their activities on their own, including the Maritime School and the Law Academy №4. Also, today six institutions are in the process of reorganization.

«We are planning to rename the institutions of our vocational school. This is not just to change the picture, but to change the philosophy of attitude towards vocational education. So, for example, we will have some colleges instead of lyceums. We already have one institution — the Nova Odesa Vocational College, and we are also waiting for the founding documents regarding the renaming of three more departments,» Liudmyla Komisarova said.

We will remind that in 2023, the Department of Town Planning and Architecture of the Mykolaiv Regional Government held a tender for the capital repair of the building of the Nadbuzke Vocational Agrarian Lyceum, which was damaged by enemy shelling.

It was also reported that during the full-scale war, 249 educational institutions were damaged in the Mykolaiv region, 33 of them were destroyed.
