2 billion hryvnias was allocated from the state budget for the second line of defence in Kherson.
The head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, said this in an interview with Vhoru.
The second line of defence is 196 kilometres long and consists of non-explosive barriers and a large number of firing positions, he added.
«I will say that this line is made with high quality and in accordance with all standards. It is being checked by all law enforcement agencies that exist in the country, and we are in full communication in this area,» said Prokudin.
However, the situation on the first line of defence is more complicated, he added, as the military is engaged in its construction. It is under attack by the Russian army.
«We provide equipment, people and materials. It is not so solid and equipped, but only the security factor affects the completion of the 100% completion. This is 220 kilometres of solid defence line along the Dnipro.
I can tell you that the military is ready for any position and situation that may arise. We have intelligence on everything that is happening. We understand that there are assault groups that are preparing, training and want to go to the right bank — their military command has set this task. We are ready for any situation,» said Prokudin.
As a reminder, Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups have been trying to advance towards Kherson.
Back in early December, the «RBC-Ukraine» media outlet reported that the Russian military may soon conduct another operation to advance on Kherson by forcing the Dnipro River, as all bridges towards the city have been destroyed or damaged.
And the number of Russian military units has increased on the territory of the occupied Kinburn Sp it in order to hold the line and prevent Ukrainian troops from forcing the Dnipro.
Commenting on the information about a possible Russian offensive on the right bank of the Dnipro, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, assured that the Ukrainian military had been prepared for such a development several months ago.
