Mykolaiv has received a batch of equipment to equip a future plant for recycling construction waste left after the destruction caused by Russian shelling.

This was announced by Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych.

He noted that the aid was donated by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the people of Japan. This equipment sorts fractions of inert materials.

«This trommel is part of a large complex, its function is to sort fractions of inert materials. It will be operated by our municipal enterprise «Exploitation Line Management of Roads and Highways»," the mayor said.

In May 2024, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych announced that the Japanese company JICA was planning to build a construction waste recycling plant in Mykolaiv. At the same time, the city received the first equipment worth 1 million hryvnias from its partners.

Later, the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine also took over the technical support and provided some of the necessary equipment for the waste sorting and recycling station, including excavators and crushers.
