Three registries resume operation in Ukraine after cyber attack

The Ministry of Justice has resumed the work of the first three notary registries, which was suspended as a result of a large-scale Russian cyberattack.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice.

It is noted that after a large-scale cyberattack by the Russians, the Unified Register of Powers of Attorney, the Inheritance Register and the Unified Register of Special Forms of Notarial Documents have been reopened.

«From now on, notaries can register powers of attorney, wills and inheritance cases, as well as check special forms», the statement said.

It is also stated that all notarial acts performed in the absence of access to the registers will be recorded within 5 working days. The Ministry of Justice reported that enhanced cyber security measures have already been implemented. Work is underway to restore other registers.

Cyberattack on registries

On the night of 19 to 20 December, Ukraine's state registries were subjected to a cyberattack. It has been called the largest in recent times. Currently, the registers that are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine have been temporarily suspended.

As a reminder, certain registration services related to the change of car ownership have been temporarily suspended in Mykolaiv region.

Inna Firsova, First Deputy Head of the Southern Interregional Department of the Ministry of Justice (Odesa), said that the registers are expected to be restored in two weeks.
