A 17-year-old boy was brought from the temporarily occupied Kherson region to the territory controlled by Ukraine.

This was announced on 8 January by the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.

According to him, the young man survived interrogations, threats and persecution by the Russian occupation authorities. The team of the Ombudsman's Office helped to save him.

«Now he is safe and receiving psychological, financial and humanitarian assistance. Most importantly, his life is no longer in danger. Recovery and reunification with his family are ahead», wrote Alexander Prokudin.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, said that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has illegally abducted more than 20,000 Ukrainian children. Currently, there is a risk of deportation of another 1.5 million children in the temporarily occupied territories.

According to him, Russians change the personal data of forcibly displaced and deported children so that their relatives and Ukraine cannot find them and return them.
