Kherson Oblast's healthcare facilities employ more than 700 doctors and 1,600 healthcare workers. However, there is a shortage of neuro- and vascular surgeons, traumatologists, and anaesthetists in the region.
This was announced by Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, on the air of the telethon «Yedyni Novyny».
«Each and every one of them is a true professional who is always ready to help the residents of Kherson region. Of course, our region lacks narrow-profile specialists who work with polytrauma. These are neurosurgeons, vascular surgeons, traumatologists and anaesthetists», he said.
According to him, they are trying to solve this problem together with the Ministry of Health. In particular, the necessary specialists are sent on business trips from other regions.
«Specialists who have been working in Kherson region for a month or two are sent on a rotational basis from other regions,» said the head of the region.
He noted that 28 emergency medical teams work around the clock in the region. They respond to about 200 calls every day. In total, the ambulances responded to 55,000 calls over the year. In addition, seven underground hospitals were opened in the region.
Earlier it was reported that the Kherson Regional Emergency Medical Care Centre received five resuscitation vehicles equipped with everything necessary to provide emergency medical care.
