An 11-year-old boy has been returned from the temporarily occupied territory of the left-bank Kherson region to the territory controlled by Ukraine.

According to the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, the Russian military killed the child's mother in front of him. After the tragedy, the boy was taken in by a relative, but the Russians could deport him at any time.

According to him, the child is now safe, under the supervision of doctors and psychologists. A family is being sought for him who will be able to provide the necessary support.

The operation to return the boy took place within the framework of the presidential initiative «Bring Kids Back UA» with the support of the organisation «Ukrainian Child Rights Network». This is the 29th child who has been returned from the occupied part of Kherson region this year, the statement said.

It should be recalled that the United States is discussing the possibility of returning Ukrainian children who were forcibly taken to Russia as one of the key steps to build trust between the parties.
