In the Inhulskyi district of Mykolaiv, the emergency entrance of a five-storey building at 87 Pozdvzhnia Street, where a gas explosion occurred several months ago, is being dismantled.

This became known during an online meeting of the city council session on 28 August, according to NikVesti.

«Yesterday, the executive committee supported the decision to dismantle part of the building — the first entrance at 87, 4th Pozdovzhnia Street. We are planning to launch the procurement (of dismantling services) in early September and implement it quickly. The dynamics there are quite poor, so there is a need to do it as soon as possible,» said Ihor Nabatov, First Deputy Director of the Housing and Communal Services Department of the City Council.

According to him, «will take about three weeks to dismantle, including preparatory work».

This issue was raised at the session when considering amendments to the programme for reforming and developing Mykolaiv's housing and communal services. The amendments provide for the possibility of restoring housing that has been damaged not only due to military operations, but also as a result of man-made causes, as in the case of the house at 87, 4th Pozdovzhnia Street. The amendments were unanimously supported by 33 deputies.

As a reminder, on 23 May, a gas explosion occurred in one of the apartments on the ground floor of a five-storey building. A 59-year-old woman suffered burns and was hospitalised in serious condition. The explosion damaged the interior walls of the apartment, windows, balconies on the upper floors, as well as two cars parked nearby.

After the incident, the executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council declared the first entrance of the apartment block to be unsafe. The residents of the five-storey building expressed their concern that they did not know when they would receive compensation after the dismantling of the emergency entrance.
