During the year, 1138 stray animals were sterilised in Mykolaiv. Of these, 895 were dogs and 243 were cats.

This was reported by the «Animal Protection Centre» in response to a request from NikVesti.

Also this year, 489 pets (250 dogs and 239 cats) were sterilised.

In addition, in 2024, 233 animals were registered, 139 of which were registered under the preferential programme. This year, as of 1 September, 123 animals have already been registered, including 57 for privileged categories.

Earlier this year, Mykolaiv conducted a count of stray animals. According to its results, there are 5,500 dogs living on the streets in the city.

It should be noted that Mykolaiv regularly hosts stray animal adoption exhibitions. They are organised by both volunteers and the municipal enterprise «The Animal Protection Centre». For example, at the exhibition in June, 7 dogs and 3 cats found new homes.
