Energy audits will be carried out in the buildings of Mykolaiv where residents complained about the increase in heating costs after energy efficiency works.

This was announced by Mykola Lohvinov, director of the utility company «Mykolaivoblteploenergo», during a meeting of the Housing and Utilities Commission.

The previous meeting of the commission discussed the methodology for calculating the two-rate tariff. Citizens complained that homeowners who had upgraded their homes were paying more than those who had not made any improvements.

Lohvinov noted that the correct recalculation of tariffs is only possible after a certified energy audit is carried out by the building and its results are submitted to the company. He also said that the city is implementing a pilot energy audit project to demonstrate how energy efficiency affects tariff setting.

Currently, according to the director of «Mykolaivoblteploenergo», there are already potential energy auditors who are ready to perform the work.

«We are working with energy auditors: we have found two in Mykolaiv who can prepare the necessary document, and another in Vinnytsia. So we are planning to order two energy audits for the buildings that have undergone energy efficiency measures and show how it looks. I think we will have the results in January», commented Lohvinov.

It should be noted that the two-rate tariff has a conditionally variable part — it is a payment for the actual heat energy consumed, it is charged during the heating period and covers energy costs. The second part is conditionally constant — it is a fixed amount per unit of heat load and covers the cost of repairs.

In the summer, the city's condominiums tried to cancel the two-rate heating tariff from «Mykolaivoblteploenergo», which made apartment residents overpay for the service.

We would also like to remind you that in Mykolaiv, residents of a dormitory at 2-A Lystopadovyi Lane, who had been without heating since the beginning of the heating season, have been connected to heating.
