The police have no confirmation that Denys Andreev, a deputy and deputy chairman of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, was injured during a hunt in Voznesensk district. The information disseminated on social media is being checked.
This was reported by Maryna Kalyna, a spokesperson for the Main Department of the National Police of Mykolaiv Oblast, in a comment to NikVesti.
«We wrote that we had not received any reports. We found out last night while monitoring the media, or rather telegram channels. We saw the information and are investigating it. We did not receive any reports on 20 or 21 December,» said Maryna Kalyna.
She explained that it was a matter of verifying the information, not of establishing the fact of a crime.
«We need to establish under what circumstances a person received certain injuries and what happened. We are not claiming anything — we are checking the information we saw on social media,» the police spokeswoman said.
The inspection began in the morning, and law enforcement officers are currently collecting information and investigating the circumstances.
«I can't say anything specific yet. There must be grounds for investigative actions,» she added.
As you know, on 22 December, it became known that the police were checking information about a possible gunshot wound to a man during a hunt that could have happened over the weekend in the Voznesensk district of Mykolaiv region.
The basis for the investigation was a post on the Telegram channel of former regional council member Svitlana Fedorova. She claimed that the day before, a group of officials had allegedly gone hunting for game in the Voznesensk district of Mykolaiv region. As a result of careless handling of weapons, the deputy chairman of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, Denys Andreev, was injured, who was celebrating his birthday the next day, on 21 December.
On 22 December, Svitlana Fedorova came to the building of the Mykolaiv Regional Council to find Denys Andrieiev at his workplace. However, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, Anton Tabunschyk, said that his deputy, Denys Andrieiev, was not in touch with him.
A few days before, on 18 December, the Mykolaiv Regional Council held its last plenary meeting of the year, where it granted permission to use hunting grounds to 4 companies. The land was granted to the private companies for 25 years (until December 2050) for the purpose of «breeding game, creating pheasant enclosures» and developing recreational facilities and services.
