Pervomaisk is short of 39.3 million hryvnias to pay salaries to teachers and increase wages for preschool and extracurricular education workers.

This became known during a meeting of the city council's standing committee on budget and finance, according to NikVesti.

Deputies considered changes to the budget related to the receipt of state subsidies, which are planned to be directed to the needs of the education sector. In particular, the community budget was replenished with:

  • 21.1 million hryvnias — for meals for students in general secondary education institutions;
  • 134.78 million hryvnias — educational subsidy for salaries and accruals;
  • 12.85 million hryvnias — a subsidy for additional payments to teachers.

At the same time, the head of the education department, Svitlana Tkachuk, said that these funds are insufficient. According to her, there is a shortfall of more than 10.7 million hryvnias for the salary fund alone.

A separate problem is the 40% increase in official salaries for preschool and extracurricular education workers. The community budget also lacks funds for these payments.

In total, the deficit for salary payments amounts to 39 million 316 thousand hryvnias. Of this amount, about 15.2 million hryvnias should come as a state subsidy, and another 24 million from the local budget.

«This is a very large amount. The resolution to increase salaries by 40% for preschool and extracurricular education actually falls on the shoulders of local budgets. But we have to implement it from 1 January,» said Svitlana Tkachuk.

The head of the budget committee proposed holding additional meetings of the deputy committees to develop a common position. After that, the city council plans to appeal to state authorities with a request to provide full funding for the education sector. Deputies will also consider possible options for covering the deficit from the local budget.

We will remind you that in November 2025, the mayor of Pervomaisk, Oleg Demchenko, who was handed a suspicion of false declaration, attended the ReBuild Ukraine international conference in Warsaw.

On 22 October, the mayor received a suspicion from the State Bureau of Investigations for declaring false information worth more than 5 million hryvnias. NikVesti found out from the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office that during the court hearing on the choice of a preventive measure, the prosecutor's office requested that Oleh Demchenko be given bail in the amount of 60,000 hryvnias, which is the maximum amount under the article he is charged with.
