The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, apologised to the residents of Mykolaiv for the frequent power outages and noted that it is currently impossible to influence the situation.

He noted that the problems are still caused by the consequences of Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy system.

According to Vitalii Kim, there was no direct damage to the energy infrastructure in the region, but the situation in the energy system as a whole remains difficult. Electricity is partially imported, enterprises and cogeneration plants are operating, but this is not enough to avoid interruptions, especially at low temperatures.

«It's a complete nightmare with the electricity. And there's nothing we can do about it. Thank God we weren't hit, and electricity is being imported by enterprises, and cogeneration is working, but we're still freezing,» he said.

The head of the RMA emphasised that he understands the inconvenience for people and apologised for the situation.

«I have to apologise to people for the inconvenience. We must remember that the Russians are to blame,» added Vitalii Kim.

Earlier, the Ministry of Energy reported that, provided Russia completely stops its attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, it will take about two months for the power system to return to normal operation without power outages.

In addition, Volodymyr Omelchenko, director of energy programmes at the Razumkov Centre, recently noted that the situation with heat supply in Ukraine may begin to gradually improve in the spring, but until then, the power system will continue to be under pressure due to Russian shelling, cold weather and limited air defence capabilities.
