In Mykolaiv, the municipal enterprise «Animal Protection Centre» is home to over 130 dogs and cats.

This was reported by the director of the «Animal Protection Centre», Oleksandra Kupinets, during a live broadcast on Tuesday, 19 May, according to NikVesti.

«We have a great many animals. We have over 130 animals on the centre’s premises. Most of them are dogs, but there are also a few cats,» says Oleksandra Kupinets.

According to her, after trapping and neutering the animals, the centre tries to find them homes. One way of doing this is through adoption events, which are held roughly once a month. The next adoption event will take place on 31 May from 10:00 to 14:00, so everyone is welcome to attend.

Oleksandra Kupinets says that later on, due to the intense heat, it will be more difficult to hold such events, so the organisation is temporarily changing its working hours for the summer. On weekdays, it will be open from 8:00 to 16:30, and on Saturdays from 9:00 to 13:00.

«If you want to take an animal home, you must bring your passport, identification code or use the «Diia» app — that works for us too. And we can draw up an adoption agreement,» explained Oleksandra Kupinets.

She also mentioned that the organisation has a website where you can view all the animals looking for a home.

«A «Lost and Found» section has also been added to the website. It features animals found on the city’s streets that show clear signs of being domesticated: these are either purebred animals or animals with collars that, for whatever reason, have ended up on the street and may have got lost. So you can have a look at this section. Perhaps your pet is right here with us,» added Oleksandra Kupinets.

As a reminder, 30 stray dogs were caught in Voznesensk over two days recently for neutering and microchipping.

It was previously reported that cases of dog poisoning have been recorded in Voznesensk. The city council has called on residents to treat animals humanely.
