Another community in the Mykolaiv region has approved the expansion of the Tylihulskyi Park

Tiligul Regional Landscape Park. Photo: Facebook/Mykolaiv Regional State AdministrationThe Berezan Town Council has approved changes to the boundaries and an increase in the area of the Tylihulskyi Regional Landscape Park within the community.
The deputies adopted the relevant decision at a session on 26 May, according to NikVesti.
According to the document, the park’s area within the Berezan community has been increased to 5,124.8 hectares. The expansion will be achieved through land plots located in the Krasnopillia and Tashyne districts.
The decision was adopted on the basis of a request from the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration and a scientific justification for changing the boundaries of the nature conservation area.
The draft decision, which was supported by the members of the Berezan Town CouncilIt should be noted that in December 2025, the Kobleve Village Council also supported the changes to the park’s boundaries.
Approval from the communities within whose territory the park is located is required for the further approval of its updated boundaries. The landscape park was established in 1995 and at that time covered an area of 8,195 hectares. However, following topographical surveys, it was established that the park covers 9,900 hectares, 1,700 hectares more than the originally defined area.
In turn, Alla Riazhskykh, a councillor and chair of the Mykolaiv Regional Council’s Committee on Ecology, noted on her personal Facebook page that due to the peculiarities of the legislation and the need for consultation with local communities, the formalisation of the boundaries of nature reserve areas is often delayed for years.
At the same time, she pointed out that it is precisely the lack of approved boundaries for nature conservation areas that often complicates their protection and the proper enforcement of environmental legislation.
Following approval by the Berezanka community, the documentation must undergo further approval procedures at the national level.
«Thank God, it took not 25 years, but just 5. But that’s not all — now we’ll hope that the documentation will be approved by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine and that, during our term of office, the issue on which the implementation of the territory’s protected status requirements directly depends will be resolved (though this is not certain),» she added.
It should be recalled that in 2018–2019, documentation for the park’s zoning was being developed, but the process was blocked due to errors discovered and a criminal case being opened.
Previously, NikVesti reported that the pressing problem for the park at present is the lack of parking spaces for visitors’ vehicles, which could harm the unique plants in the Tylihul Estuary. Parking spaces are to be provided outside the park, but the boundaries must first be approved.
In the meantime, as there is no official car park, access to certain areas within the park is restricted.
