In Bashtanka, Mykolaiv region, the «Yahidka» nursery is set to open within the next two to three weeks. The main renovation work has already been completed; the contractor is currently rectifying minor issues and installing equipment.

This was announced during a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Bashtanka City Council, according to NikVesti.

Pavlo Chumachenko, Head of the Department of Education, Youth and Sport, stated that work on fitting out the kitchen facilities has already been completed. Meanwhile, work is continuing on the second part of the heating system. The first part of the system has already been repaired.

«They’re repairing the second half of the heating system there. The first half had already been done. Well, the contractors have now started work and are getting on with it. Based on their previous experience, they completed it in two weeks back then. We’d discussed this beforehand; in principle, the timeframe is more or less the same, so I think it’ll be three weeks before we can get it up and running,» added Pavlo Chumachenko.

It was also noted that they are currently considering the possibility of opening part of the premises earlier if the heating repairs take longer than expected. To do this, they need to ascertain whether it is possible to organise activities in the wing of the building where the heating system has already been restored.

According to preliminary estimates, the nursery will be able to operate fully in two to three weeks. However, the actual timeline will depend on the completion of the work and the readiness of the premises to receive children.

It was previously reported that in Bashtanka, the academic year began with remote learning due to the security situation. However, even if permission is granted to return to face-to-face learning, the town is not yet ready to fully resume the operation of its nurseries.
