Law enforcement officers identified the soldier of the Armed Forces, who was beheaded by the Russians in Donetsk region

Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin announced that the identity of the soldier who was beheaded by the occupiers in Donetsk region has been established, and the Russian commanders responsible for the war crime have also been identified.

He wrote about it on Facebook.

«Regarding the investigation of the brutal murder of the defender of Ukraine in Donetsk region, which became known yesterday. The identity of the deceased has been established. At the moment, we cannot name him, because the procedures for the final confirmation of his data are ongoing,» the message reads.

According to him, Russian commanders potentially responsible for the beheading of the Ukrainian defender were also identified.

«A set of measures is being taken to verify this information,» the Prosecutor General emphasized.

Andrii Kostin added that this fact is another confirmation that complete disregard for international law and universal morality is the state policy of the terrorist country Russia.

Before that, the OGP reported that the occupiers had beheaded a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donetsk region, Ukrainian prosecutors had started an investigation.

According to the agency, on June 17, 2024, the Ukrainian military received information that representatives of one of the units of the occupation forces of the Russian Federation in the Volnovaha district of Donetsk region ordered their subordinates not to capture servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and behead them. During aerial reconnaissance at one of the combat positions in the Donetsk region, the Ukrainian military discovered a damaged armored vehicle of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. On it was the severed head of a Ukrainian defender.
