For a long time, the island of Nestryga in the Kherson region was in the «gray» zone. Taking it under control will significantly improve the quality of controversial actions of the Defense Forces.

Dmytro Pletenchuk, head of the Center for Strategic Communications of the Southern Defense Forces, announced this on the air of Public Radio.

«It is not about strategy, but about portioned battles, this is more of a tactical significance. Locations that prevent the enemy from approaching our positions are important. Given that the enemy usually uses such locations, there are actually many such islands on the Dnipro River, so this is primarily important for the quality of countersabotage measures. This location was cleared of the possible presence of the enemy there,» the spokesman said.

According to him, Nestryha is the last in a group of small islands, followed by the mouth of the river.

«In fact, this is our shore. In fact, such islands are mostly swampy, you will have to look for it on the map for a long time, but it is larger than the inhabited islands opposite to which it is located. For some time it was considered a gray area,» added Dmytro Pletenchuk.
