On the territory of the Mykolaiv region, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the explosive devices of the State Emergency Service have defused 22,500 explosive objects, 67 of them — aerial bombs.

Artem Vahin, press officer of the main department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv region, told NikVesti about this.

Since the beginning of Russian aggression, pyrotechnic units have been involved more than 7,200 times in cases of detection of explosive objects. Of these, 122 cases are water bodies. «Our unit demined 6,870 hectares of territory, 657 objects, and 160 kilometers of roads,» said the speaker.

According to him, during this time the rescuers had to work with almost all types of weapons that the Russian army has.

«On the territory of both the city and the region, pyrotechnic groups discovered, identified and neutralized all types of ammunition on the weapons of our enemies. These are cluster munitions, artillery shells, mines, grenades, and everything that could fly in our direction,» Artem Vahin noted.

According to him, today there are often cases when people return home and find ammunition on the territory of their homes.

«Because now, when it has become more or less stable and more or less quiet in the territory of both our region and our city, the civilian population is slowly starting to return to their homes,» the speaker said.

The press officer noted that such cases are not isolated today and emphasized that only a conscious attitude of citizens to their own life and health will help to avoid an undesirable negative result.

«When discovering any explosive object that poses a threat to their health and life, then they should not contact the rescue service or the police by calling 101 or 102 and report the find,» said Artem Vahin.

We would like to remind that on March 12, an interactive safety class was opened at the base of the Department of State Emergency Services in the Mykolaiv region, where children will be taught the rules of handling explosive objects.

Earlier, in August 2023, Mykolaiv rescuers created a mobile mine safety class, which works in various settlements of the region. It was created to minimize risks and reach as many residents of the region as possible, especially in the de-occupied territories or in settlements where active hostilities were taking place.
