Kim about the holiday season in the Mykolaiv region: «The sea is closed, but we are preparing»

The head of Mykolayiv RMA Vitalii Kim said that despite the fact that there will be no official holiday season in the region, safe areas of estuaries and rivers will be set aside and prepared for recreation.

He said this in a comment to Ukrinform.

«The official holiday season will not be open. I can definitely say that people come to us and are ready. I can say that no one goes to Kherson region to rest - it is impossible. As for our region, the sea will be closed. The estuaries and rivers where you can relax will be opened, we are preparing for this,» said Vitalii Kim.

As you know, visiting the sea in the Mykolaiv region remains prohibited due to the presence of mines along the coast. In particular, we are talking about the resorts of Ochakiv, which suffers from shelling almost daily, and Kobleve.

Mykolaiv Marinov, the deputy head of Mykolayiv RMA, believes that after the withdrawal of Ochakiv Oblast from the war zone within six months, it will be possible to demine the beaches and partially restore Ochakiv as a resort town.

In April 2023, the head of RMA Vitalii Kim commented that the tourist season in the Mykolaiv region will take place partially, because there are still dangerous places to visit in the region.

Later, he explained that inland waters, in particular, estuaries and rivers, are planned to be opened before the tourist season.
