Kim: «Russia is using free Ukrainian media for its narratives»

Vitaliy Kim, the head of Mykolayivska OVA, believes that during the war, work rules should be introduced for the media and journalists, which will control them.

He said this on the air of the program «Topic with Moseichuk», writes NikVesti.

According to Vitalii Kim, in a warring country, there cannot be different opinions broadcast by the media, because through them the aggressor uses the Ukrainian mass media for his own influence on people's consciousness.

«Where is the media regulator? I am campaigning for a regulator to be introduced during martial law because it has to be. In recent years after independence, there is such a story that journalists have a habit of looking for what the government will do badly. This is clickbait, good stuff. This is a generation of journalists who know what to do. How can you (appeal to host Nataliia Moseichuk, — note), a representative of the mass media, answer that they will say in one day: «No, for the sake of victory, we shoot only what is useful.» This threat exists, and it must be rolled back. I don't want to offend journalists, but if you put a super story or a strategic goal on the scales, who will choose what if there is a hot story? We need a regulator, clear rules of what is possible and what is not. For example, let's throw out everything that is raised after the war. In my opinion, during war there should not be separate opinions, there should be propaganda. Because propaganda in Russia works like a big machine that moves us, and we talk about human rights, which lead to destabilization. They use our free media, our freedom of speech, to throw narratives in there. Propaganda may not be like this: «Go beat your head against the wall.» Propaganda can be: «Think bigger, be important, be a patriot.» Propaganda is different, said Vitalii Kim.

The leader of the Mykolaiv region, using the example of working with journalists in the region, assured that their absence at the sessions has a productive effect on the work.

«We held one session of the regional council without journalists. «...Treason, what was not allowed?». We completed it in 30 minutes. Because there is no one to speak, there are no cameras, in front of whom, to whom to say these points? When a regular session with journalists is such fiery speeches: «We are for the people, for this...». What do people need speed of work or show? I am for the speed of work,» said the head of RMA.

We will remind you that the Mykolaiv Regional Council, contrary to the regulations, refused NikVesti to attend the session, which is scheduled remotely for Thursday, December 14.

Roman Holovenko, a lawyer at the Institute of Mass Information, said the regional council had no right to deny journalists access to the meeting of the regional council, but should only warn about existing security risks.
