Russians tried to break through the defenses in the Kharkiv region: the population is being evacuated from Vovchansk

Reserve units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been sent to strengthen the defense in the Vovchan direction. The military continues to hold back the enemy's advance.

We will remind that the Russian troops have increased shelling in the northern direction of the Kharkiv region. First of all, the enemy attacks the city of Vovchansk.

During this day, the enemy attacked in the direction of Vovchannsk with guided aerial bombs. The Russians also tried to break through the defense.

«With the beginning of the night, the Russian occupiers increased the fire pressure on the front edge of our defense with the support of artillery. At approximately 5 am, there was an attempt by the enemy to break through our defense line under the cover of armored vehicles. As of now, these attacks have been repulsed, battles of varying intensity continue. To strengthen the defense in this part of the front, reserve units have been sent. The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to hold back the enemy's offensive,» the message reads.

There is still no information on the dead and wounded as a result of shelling by the Russian occupiers of Vovchansk, but there are reports of massive destruction.

In addition, the population is being evacuated from the city of Vovchansk and surrounding settlements in the Kharkiv region. The authorities, the police and volunteers work together to help people leave. Tamaz Gambarashvili, the head of Vovchansk CMA, told «Hromadske Radio» about this.

«Now we are evacuating the population. The majority of people leave by their own transport. But at the same time, together with the humanitarian center, we organize the removal of those locals who do not have their own cars. We work together with volunteers and the police. We take it out of Vovchansk and nearby settlements,» said the head of the administration.
