The situation on the eastern front has worsened in recent days. The occupiers have stepped up assaults and are using equipment for attacks.
This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi.
The head of the committee noted that the offensive actions of the Russians intensified after the presidential elections were held in Russia.
«The enemy is actively attacking our positions in the Lymany, Bakhmut directions with assault groups with the support of armored vehicles. In the Pokrovske direction, he is trying to break through our defenses using dozens of tanks and BMPs,» said Oleksandr Syrskyi.
According to him, dry weather favors the use of armored vehicles at the front. The weather made most of the open areas accessible to tanks.
«Despite significant losses, the enemy is increasing its efforts by using new units on armored vehicles, thanks to which it periodically achieves tactical success,» the commander-in-chief emphasized.
We will remind, on February 28, the Third Separate Assault Brigade announced that the military defeated the Russian army from Krasnohorivka, Donetsk region.
On February 15, the 3rd separate assault brigade was urgently redeployed to reinforce Ukrainian troops in the Avdiivka area. The press service noted that the situation in the city is extremely critical.
On February 16, the brigade reported that the Russian army continues to actively shell Avdiivka, in particular, the territory of the Coke Chemical Plant. The invaders storm the city and attack from the air both day and night.
On February 17, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, decided to withdraw the Defense Forces of Ukraine from Avdiyivka. He explained that he did it for the sake of preserving the personnel and defense on more profitable frontiers. During the retreat, part of the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were captured by the Russians.
In general, during the offensive on Avdiivka, the Russians lost 47,000 soldiers killed and wounded.
