Oleksandr Syrskyi is a Ukrainian military leader, general, candidate of military sciences, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2024. He was born on July 26, 1965, in the village of Novynky, Vladimir Oblast, RSFSR. He received his military education at the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School and the M. V. Frunze Military Academy.

Military Career:

  • 1990s: Service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine after gaining independence.
  • 2014-2015: Participation in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine, including leadership of the ATO headquarters.
  • 2017-2019: Commander of the Joint Operational Headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
  • 2019-2024: Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
  • Since 2024: Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
