Missiles belonging to North Korea were discovered on the territory of Ukraine.
This was reported by the Associated Press agency.
The head of a research organization that has been studying the use of weapons in conflicts in Ukraine since 2018 told the UN Security Council that the fragments of ballistic missiles found on Ukrainian soil came from North Korea. The US and its Western allies have accused Russia and North Korea of violating the UN embargo on arms exports from North Korea. Instead, Russia rejected these accusations.
John Leff, executive director of the organization «Conflict Armament Research», presented a detailed analysis of the missile that hit Kharkiv on January 2. He said the organization identified the missile engine, tail section and nearly 300 components made by 26 companies from eight countries and territories and determined that the missile was either a KN-23 or KN-24 manufactured in 2023 in North Korea.
The US representative emphasized that Leff's independent research confirms information obtained from open sources. He also emphasized that, in addition to missiles, North Korea illegally handed over 11,000 containers of ammunition to Russia.
It will be recalled that earlier the United States of America declared that it had evidence of at least 10 cases of the use of North Korean missiles by Russia in the war against Ukraine.
