Mykolaiv Palace of Youth Creativity renovation cost rises by ₴7 Million, completion delayed to 2027

Photo: NikVestiIn Mykolaiv, the total cost of renovating the Palace of Youth Creativity has risen by almost 7 million hryvnias — from over 15 million to 21.9 million hryvnias. However, the work will not be completed by the end of 2026, as stipulated in the current contract — it is now scheduled for completion in 2027.
Oleksii Savchuk, director of the capital construction department at Mykolaiv City Council, reported this in a comment to NikVesti.
According to him, the total estimated cost of the reconstruction currently stands at 21.9 million hryvnias. The city budget has allocated 10 million hryvnias for the work in 2026.
In addition, the city authorities are in talks with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) regarding possible co-funding of the project.
«Negotiations are currently underway with potential donors regarding partial funding for the renovation of the building. The organisational and financial terms of the donor’s participation are at the stage of agreement. No official agreements have been reached as of today,» said Oleksii Savchuk.
The contractor is currently carrying out finishing works on the staircases, in the lobby, the ballroom and on the fourth floor of the building. Although the contract runs until December 2026, it will not be possible to complete the renovation by that date given the current level of funding.
«Given the current state of funding for the works, their completion is forecast for 2027,» noted Oleksii Savchuk.
As previously reported by NikVesti, over 15 million hryvnias were earmarked for the renovation of the Palace of Youth Creativity. The works involve the restoration of damaged premises, the refurbishment of the lobby, staircases, dance hall and upper floors, the fitting out of a toilet facility for people with reduced mobility, the replacement of doors and improvements to the ventilation system.
