news about books, libraries and reading

The Books tag covers publishing, reading, libraries and the book market. In summer 2026 Russian strikes destroyed publishers’ warehouses and a large printing house in Kyiv, and Ukraine lost a third of its annual book print run to the attacks. In 2025 children’s libraries in Mykolaiv did not get a single book paid for from the budget, while libraries for adults received over 3,000 new books, mostly free of charge.

MykVisti covers book presentations in Mykolaiv, bookcrossing, the eKnyha programme and literary prizes.
