European Union bank funding the recovery of Ukraine

The EIB (European Investment Bank) is a body of the European Union that funds projects inside and outside the EU. In Ukraine it finances the restoration of roads, energy, water supply and urban transport.

For Mykolaiv, the bank's main project is new water treatment plants worth about 120 million euros, to be funded by the EIB and the government of Denmark. The pre-qualification stage of the tender began in October 2025, and in July 2026 the bank confirmed it was still working on the project. Earlier the EIB provided 7.8 million euros to restore the city's water supply and considered helping Mykolaiv with housing, either by rebuilding destroyed homes or building social housing.

MykVisti covers EIB loans and grants for Mykolaiv, visits by bank officials and debates over loans that could affect utility tariffs.
