In the evening of October 29, Dagestanis broke into the airport in Makhachkala and searched the premises in search of «Jews» who had flown in from Israel.
This was reported by the Russian mass media and Telegram channels.
In particular, Baza wrote that frightened airport employees are trying to hide in their offices. There are also men running around the airfield, checking all the planes, looking for a flight from Israel. Pilots ask passengers to stay in their seats.
Later, the airport was closed due to riots, Russian special forces arrived on the scene.
Over time, the angry crowd was pushed out of the runway, and almost everyone was taken out of the airport building to the square in front of the airport. According to Baza, four people were injured, another protester broke his leg while jumping over the fences.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation announced that a case has been opened under the article on the organization of mass riots, and all participants in the incident «will be detained and brought to justice»
There are several Israeli citizens and Jews at the Makhachkala airport. They are under guard, a source told The Times of Israel.
«We are working to get them on a connecting flight to Moscow as soon as circumstances permit. Israeli security officers and the Israeli ambassador are working with local security agencies» — an unnamed representative of Israeli intelligence services told the publication.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the events in Makhachkala.
«This is not an isolated incident in Makhachkala — it is part of a culture of hatred towards other peoples that is widespread in Russia, which is promoted by state television, experts and the authorities», — the president wrote on the X social network.
He added that over the past year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has indulged in a number of anti-semitic statements, just as Russian President Vladimir Putin has used anti-Semitic insults.
«Even the current escalation in the Middle East has caused anti-Semitic statements by Russian ideologues. Russian anti-Semitism and hatred of other nations is systemic and deeply rooted. Hate is what drives aggression and terror. We have to work together to resist hatred», — he said.

In response, ground and air forces of the Israel Defense Forces struck Hamas targets. In particular, the Israeli military hit two high-rise buildings in the Gaza Strip, where, according to their information, Palestinian militants were located.

On October 9, the Israeli army announced that it had returned to control all areas on the border with the Gaza Strip. At the same time, it is not excluded that there are still Hamas militants on Israeli territory.
