This was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv region.

The State Emergency Service reminded that Mykolaiv and Bashtanka districts were in the area of active hostilities and therefore remain dangerous areas.

«Every day, pyrotechnic teams of the State Emergency Service work to clear them of explosive devices, but there is still a lot of ammunition in the ground», the rescuers said.

How is the demining of Mykolaiv region going?

Ukraine has recently updated its priority demining plan. According to it, more than 512,000 hectares of agricultural land are to be demined as a matter of priority, of which 44,000 hectares are in the Mykolaiv region, the Ministry of Economy reported. It also noted that the region is a priority for demining due to its fertile land.

Since the beginning of the great war, 754,000 hectares have been potentially mined in Mykolaiv region, which is 30% of the entire region, the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported.

As of April 2024, sappers have already surveyed and cleared almost a third of this territory - 211,000 hectares of the region, said Heorhii Reshetilov, first deputy head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.

The author of the project «World Inside Out.Ukraine» Dmytro Komarov visited the mined areas of Mykolaiv region and showed the work of local sappersNikVesti also told about a farmer from Kyselivka who is trying to clear his fields of mines on his own.

In the Bashtanka district of Mykolaiv region, part of which was under occupation, about 30-35 thousand hectares of land remain mined. And in the village of Maksymivka in the Pervomaisk community of Mykolaiv region, locals live with an unexploded ordnance under the foundation of their house.

Overall, the situation with demining in Maksymivka is critical. A year after the village was liberated from the Russian occupiers , it was only 40% cleared of mines.

It is known that Demining of Ukraine has developed a unit that can demine Mykolaiv region within three months.
