The heating season in Mykolaiv will begin on Tuesday, 3 November. Heat will be supplied first to social services, in particular hospitals and educational establishments. Full heating is due to be operational within 10 days.

This is stated in a decision by the executive committee, which was adopted on 2 November, and was also announced by Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, according to NikVesti.

The decision was taken in view of a potential cold snap, when the average daytime temperature is expected to be up to +8°C or lower.

In accordance with the Executive Committee’s decision, department heads have been instructed to prioritise the provision of heating to healthcare, educational and social welfare institutions, as well as other social and cultural facilities.

Heating must be connected for all consumers, including residents of residential buildings, within 10 days.

The Executive Committee’s decision stipulates that heat supply companies must calculate heating charges based on the date on which homes are actually connected to the heating network.

It should be recalled that at a staff meeting on 5 October, Mykola Lohvinov, director of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaivobltheploenergo», reported that the company’s boiler houses were already prepared for winter and that repairs to the heating networks had been completed.

Representatives of the Mykolaiv Thermal Power Station said that the company would be ready to start the heating season by 20 October.

In addition, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych reported on Mykolaiv’s preparations for winter. He noted that, due to possible Russian attacks, the city must be prepared for various scenarios, ranging from short-term power cuts to damage to boiler houses and heating networks.
